Vegan Fitness & Running

post-run-routine-1 Vegan Fitness & RunningIf I could take care of my mind, legs, and nutrition, I’d speed recovery, and stay focused and injury-free.

To consider each run not as just the time on the road or trail, but the entire workout experience.

I’m not saying either of these better than the other; I respect both choices. But I know the one that I choose, almost every single time.

Although the foods here are the ones I actually do try to eat every single day, more importantly, I explain how I make sure to eat each one. And by making these foods a regular part of certain daily meals — salad, smoothie, etc. — you can make it an automatic habit that each and every day, the diet you eat is built around not just a random assortment of whole, plant-based foods, but the healthiest ones you can possibly eat. You wake up each day. So do I. So does Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos and Tony Robbins. We all get the same 24 hours, and we all need about 7-8 to sleep. We all have to shower, eat and go to the bathroom. After that, there are about 14 hours left each day for us […]

Vegan Recipes by Angela Liddon

10minuteveganpasta-6480 Vegan Recipes by Angela Liddon At long last, I’m sharing the recipe I’ve probably made the most since Adriana started eating solids (which somehow feels like forever ago and just yesterday at the same time). I’ve had so many requests for this recipe, but never got around to sharing it because it would always be devoured right away, leaving no time for photos. Last week, I finally made it in the morning so I’d have a bit of time to snap a few shots.   I use the term “recipe” lightly here because I never measure the ingredients for this pasta; not having to measure anything is part of its beauty and ease.

I use the term “recipe” lightly here because I never measure the ingredients for this pasta; not having to measure anything is part of its beauty and ease. I measured it here so you can get a feel for it, but once you do, I encourage you to throw caution to the wind and wing it! It’s really hard to mess up. You can often find me glugging marinara, spooning hummus, and dumping hemp hearts with abandon into the cooked pasta. The quicker the better, especially when there’s a hangry toddler screaming “Paaaaaaaasta!” at your feet.

Anyway, I’m sure we’ll have a mix of “my baby/toddler/kid loved this” and “my kiddo only ate one bite” in the comments—that’s just the nature of the beast. (And by “beast” I mean toddler, in a sometimes cute/sometimes scary kinda way…am I right?) But my hope is that some of you will be able to fall back on this recipe as often as we do. I don’t know what I’d do without it as it’s just so easy. Oh, and yes, us adults like it too, so even if you don’t have kids you may want to give it a try on those busy, too-tired-to-cook weeknights. It’s great paired with a simple side salad and Lemon-Tahini Dressing, which can be thrown together while the pasta cooks.

This pasta goes lovely with a simple side salad and garlic bread. If your little one isn’t a salad fan, try giving them small lettuce leaves for dipping into the dressing. Vegan Recipes by Angela Liddon | Oh She Glows

Life Daily Break

Life Daily Break

DailyBreakLeaderFINAL Life Daily Break I have loved connecting with people from around the world. I’ve loved meeting them in person, sometimes, when they visited NYC or I visited somewhere else. I’ve made good friends this way. I’ve heard many hundreds of life stories. I’ve gotten recognized a few times on the sidewalk and felt cool. I’ve knocked professional goals off a stubborn list. I’ve gotten very fast at writing essays. I’ve proven to myself that I could build something out of nothing. I’ve been amazed by how many people were interested in reading my words. I’ve embarrassed myself and distinguished myself and gotten furious and hurt and once someone wrote to me to tell me she hated me and we talked and talked and she changed her mind and apologized and told me her story. People I’ve never met have told me I suck and I’m stupid and I’m shallow and I’m harmful and I’m generally a huge humiliating failure. People I’ve never met have told me that they are grateful for me. Once someone offered to tithe to me. People I’ve never met were happy for me when I was happy and sad for me when I was sad. Thank you so much for that. When I started blogging I’d literally never read a blog. Four years later, I think this experiment has taught me a lot about my own worth.

This is how we, as a culture, celebrate older women, when we celebrate their beauty. And often, unfortunately, we are celebrating beauty first and the rest later, in a smaller room in the back. We praise those women who, like great illusionists, amaze with the magic trick of their appearances. We are impressed with women over forty for looking like they’re not yet. We admire women for confusing us at first sight, we show respect to the ones who can manage, mysteriously, to look nothing like nature suggests they should look. Eat the Damn Cake

No Meat Athlete – Plant-Based Diet for Fitness

No Meat Athlete – Plant-Based Diet for Fitness

motivated No Meat Athlete - Plant-Based Diet for FitnessIn my opinion, the holidays are all about two things: Spending quality time with family and friends, and indulging on good food and drink. A few weeks ago I shared tips on how to stay happy and healthy this holiday season, so this week I thought I’d shift gears and focus on the good stuff — the indulging. More specifically, the best plant-based holiday meal, drink, and treat recipes to get you — and your non-vegan family and friends — through the holidays.

In this updated post, author Doug Hay has added an eighth running workout to the original seven, expanded on many of the sample workouts and added several more, and included a “Putting It All Together” section — to help you not just read and nod along, but actually put this stuff into action and build a training plan around it.

Of course, it probably comes as no surprise that the workouts on your training plan aren’t there just to piss you off. They’re included to help you run stronger, faster, and for longer distances.

Motivated by a laundry list of health issues, of which the heart scare was only the most recent, he hasn’t only gone plant-based … he’s been so thorough about eating healthy, micronutrient-rich food that he has motivated me to do better in my own diet. And his dietary changes have been led to the reversal of nearly all of his health issues, including the atrial fibrillation that first motivated the change. The Hungry Runner Girl

featured-3 No Meat Athlete - Plant-Based Diet for FitnessMy run was done in two segments yesterday: Segment 1(5 miles) done on the treadmill while Andrew was out getting our tires changed.  Then when he got home I had to be somewhere so I pressed pause on my run. Missing that little dude already big time. 7.5 miles in one hour on the treadmill while Beretta stared at me… I went outside to go for my run and once I realized it was ridiculously windy, I gladly jumped on my treadmill instead.  I’ll do rain, snow etc but wind is just not my thing … Continue Reading The Hungry Runner Girl | It’s rude to count people as you pass them… out loud

Staying healthy is vital for proper growth and development of their mind and body. Being overweight is something, one cannot be proud of, as excessive weight gain can adversely affect health. But for attaining a fit body you need to follow a healthy course of diet. It can’t be something like you just decide, ‘okay I quit smoking right from this moment.’ For dry skin, washing it twice, once in the morning and just before sleeping at night is more than sufficient. Her friends empathized with her and she realized the importance of accepting your shortcomings in front of others. Use your science nerd Fred to cool off with some tricks of biology and chemistry – impress your friends! This would increase your self-control. ► Variety in food gets you more interested in what you are eating. It is also important that CB sessions for children are completed in a short span of time.

Fitness provides you with much more than a better, healthier body. If you start a new workout routine, your mental health will improve as well. You will get a ‘workout high’ from endorphins! You can also better your self-esteem and confidence by getting in shape. This means you may be a few workouts short of happiness.

Insurance Health Tips

The cost of your health insurance is not just the premium paid every month, it is everything involved with your medical care. Most health insurances require you to pay a fixed amount every time you go to a doctor or to the hospital. Figure out if the services offered are worth it after considering the co-pay.
